How do I create an appointment by hand or handle a walk-in?
From the Schedule, with "New appointment" or "Serve a walk-in": the client is saved in Clients when you save the appointment, with no need to add them first.

In the Schedule, press "New appointment" (on a phone, inside the "+") or tap a free slot in Plan. You pick the day, time and service and type the client name; the phone is optional. Right below the name and phone, the form keeps telling you who it is: before you type, "If they are already a client, you will see it here as you type their name or phone"; as you type, it suggests the clients you already have, with their phone, visits and last visit; and then what will happen on save: whether the appointment goes to the record of someone already in Clients or is saved as a new client. There is no need to add them first.
For someone who walks in, use "Serve a walk-in": it does not look for a free slot, because they are already in front of you. The appointment is set for today, at the current time rounded up to the next one in your schedule (at 16:48, it is 17:00); if you need another, press "Change". Their details are optional: if you type neither a name nor a phone, it is logged as "Walk-in client" and nothing is saved in Clients. It is saved with "Start".
The times the form offers are the free ones. If you want to double-book on purpose, "Show times already taken (overlap)" shows the rest: pick one and, if the staff member already has another appointment at that time, it tells you before saving ("Ana already has an appointment at that time") and you save it with "Save anyway", because you are the one in charge of your calendar (if your waiting list is on, you can also add the client to it). What is not saved is an appointment at a time when the staff member is away or has that time blocked, because there is nobody to book: the form stays open with everything you typed and tells you why ("Ana is not available on this date", or "Ana is away from 11:30 to 13:00" if it is only part of the day); change the time or the staff member and save again. In a restaurant with no free table, or in a service split into stages with no free staff member for one of them, it warns you and asks you to confirm before saving. The minimum notice rules of your website do not apply to you.
What happens when you do not know the phone, when two clients share a name or when the phone already belongs to someone else is explained in the next questions.
